Updates for the Raider Nation

Almost Every Scholar Took the MAP Growth Assessment (and has solid information about their Math & Learning levels)

Starting on August 25, scholars took the MAP Growth Assessment. The results show scholars, parents, and teachers the learning level for each scholar in Math and Reading. These results have now been entered into IXL so that scholars can begin to work at their level in both Math and Reading. Be sure to check it out with them at home while they begin to take the next action step . . . most scholars have committed to work in IXL or PowerPrepACT for some minutes at home several days each week. Formative vs Summative

As people look to Aspire for current grades, there are two categories:

  1. Formative: These assessments are 40% of the total grade. These are assignments like Do Now's, Bellringers, Exit Tickets, and Quick Writes.

  2. Summative: These assessments are 60% of the total grade. These are activities where scholars demonstrate knowledge and skills. These could be Tests, Quizzes, Projects, Essays, Performances, Verbalizations, and Presentations.

If you need assistance to see grades in Aspire, please reach out to Ella at 435.678.1856 so she can help you with where to go, credentials, and even show you how to email a teacher from Aspire!

What is a RIT Score?

The RIT Score is provided after the MAP Growth assessment. There is a RIT score for Math and another RIT score for Reading. Each scholar has both RIT scores. The RIT scale precisely measures performance, regardless of whether they are performing on, above, or below grade level. RIT stands for Rasch UnIT scale.

Each advisee is working with their Advisor to set a growth goal now and take some next action steps to improve the RIT score when we take the MAP Growth assessment in December. Be sure to ask your scholar about their next action step. Here are some common next action steps:

  1. Practice 30-minutes in IXL Math, at home, for 4 days each week.

  2. Read 45-minutes, at home, for 5 days each week.

  3. Work for 45-minutes in PowerPrep ACT, at home, for 4 days each week.

  4. Go to the Library during lunch and practice 30-minutes in PowerPrep ACT for 4 days each week.
